the calm before the storm..

I'm not sure how many people know this, but I'm terrified of thunderstorms! I think this stems from childhood trauma of seeing a tree in my front yard get struck by lightening and split in half. Or it could stem from the fact that the barn full of hay we owned also got struck by lightning as a kid and caught fire. That fire was put out in a timely manner saving most of the hay from certain doom.
Or it could be from the time we had a tornado warning, and my parents ran out in the front yard as the sky turned green and the wind suddenly stopped, then picked up in a manner to which my mom had to hold on to the post on the front porch to keep from flying away. (That tornado knocked down a few HUGE trees in the side yard next to our house but was never confirmed as a tornado.)
Every time I hear we have a tornado/thunderstorm watch, I get antsy. When I hear the tornado siren go off, I freak. I shake, yet I don't hide from it. I watch for it, and wait for it to come for me. When lightning strikes in the middle of the night, and the thunder rolls, you can surely bet I'm crawled up next to my unsuspecting husband underneath as many blankets as I can find in order to hide from certain doom. I'm almost as scared of thunderstorms as I am of flying.
EEK!
Well... as the sun shines today and the warm breeze blows, sure enough we have a tornado watch. This is the calm before the storm.
You can bet I'll be watching and waiting for that monster tornado to come and take me away to OZ!
