so many questions..

So I have a newborn now. I have so many questions, and soooooo many more anxieties than I thought I would. My milk hasn't come in, and she's looking a little jaundiced. She sleeps most of the time and has to be woken for meals, although not easily awakened. Is this all normal? Am I freaking out over nothing? I know nothing about newborn behavior.. I'm so lost and scared..

ahhhh...I SO remember those days. Asher was jaundice too, but it was breastmilk jaundice, so nothing helped, it just had to run it's course. The weather is beautiful, so take her outside to let the sun flush out the jaundice. And I've heard of some babies being really sleepy. Don't worry. She's fine. You're milk will come in. It just takes some time. She's getting what she needs. Remember her tummy is tiny. She only needs a tiny amount. Give me a call anytime you need to talk. I've been there and it feels like just yesterday we brought Asher home. Things will start to makes sense in time. Just go with the flow and let people help you. Asher and I could always travel down some weekday if you need sleep or a meal or just another mama to talk to.

I'm so happy for you Beth! Just breathe and enjoy every minute!! :-)

Yes Luka was jaundice and had to be under the lights..Morgan ok but they kept an eye on his slightly yellow hue. Yes put bubba in filtered light coming through a window is fine. Her tummy is about the size of a marble I believe so imagine how little she needs. Just keep on putting her on booby, the more she sucks the more you will make. Make sure you use whatever midwife or child health nurse resources etc you have. Trust yourself - and her. xxx

It's very normal....

All newborns do is sleep and poop, and often you have to wake them up to eat.

She'll start staying awake more very soon, so try and get your own rest while she's sleeping!
