I survived another mother's day. I can honestly say this one was a little easier than the previous two, but the tears still flowed easily. On mother's day, I got many well wishes from friends and family. My in-laws bought me a present and told me how I'm such a great mom to baby Kate. I went to church with my husband and his family and as I held my baby girl, lots of people beamed their pearly whites at me. I imagined that they were thinking to themselves "look at that new mama spending her first mother's day holding that sweet sleeping baby." Little do they know that it was my third mother's day, and the child I was so holding is my second. My smile was mixed with some tears as I remembered the child who made me a mother in the first place.
My husband made my mother's day special by getting me a mother and child birthstone charm to add to my necklace. He had previously gotten me one with Charlie's birthstone so he thought it was appropriate to add one to the mix. On the "to/from" tag, he wrote "Happy Mother's Day from Charlie and Katie." Very sweet.
We had a fabulous dinner with my in-laws. We grilled some t-bone steaks, baked potatoes, asparagus, and corn on the cob. It was delish. I had spent the day before mother's day with my mama, as she works on Sundays.
I love being a mom, and I think every day should be mother's day. :)

glad you had a mostly good day
and I am sure little Kate will make each day special, even when she is a teenager and that special part is very very small.... :)
Glad this year was a little easier even though it was still bittersweet.
((hug))
